AI and Society

Loving technology and owning its impact

I do not approach AI only theoretically. I love the ability to create impact with technology – and I measure it by the benefit for people.

Peter Bonner at the Saarpolygon, looking thoughtfully into the distance.

I have hands-on experience with AI, GenAI tools, LLM platforms, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Azure OpenAI, governance, compliance and process automation. AI is not a purely theoretical topic for me – I love technology and the ability to make a difference with it. At the same time, technology must be measured by human benefit.

Since 2026 I have resumed my computer science studies at the University of Paderborn, with a strong focus on computer science and society. I am interested in necessary but proportionate regulation. Europe and Germany are important contexts here.

A personal thought

An aspiration that has stayed with me

I grew up with the firm, childlike conviction that people could one day learn to resolve conflicts in ways other than war, violence and mutual destruction.

Today I see the world more realistically. I know that peace, justice and social cohesion do not simply arise just because we wish for them. But the core of that early conviction has remained.

I do not want to become cynical. I want to understand what technology, education, democracy, entrepreneurship and political engagement can contribute, so that living together succeeds better.

Perhaps a more peaceful world will not be fully attainable in my lifetime. But that is no reason for me to give up the aspiration to take responsibility in my own environment and to work on progress.
